 What is a malasada donut?

About 150 years ago, many immigrants from the Portuguese islands of Madeira and the Azores arrived in Hawaii.

They brought with them, not their language or culture, but the "taste of life" that they had inherited with their families. Among them was the “malasada” that is loved in Hawaii today.

Many bakeries specializing in malasadas still stand side by side on the Big Island of Hawaii. A single malasada, fried and fluffy, is a reminder of the journey from a distant land and the warmth of a family's love.

In Hawaii, Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) is known as "Malasada Day.
The Portuguese immigrants, who were Catholic, made many malasadas to use up the lard and sugar before Passion Week, and served them to their plantation workers.
People of different ethnic backgrounds and languages gathered around malasadas and connected with each other with smiles... This is the origin of the malasada culture in Hawaii.

Even in the mainland U.S., on “Fertile Tuesdays,” families of Portuguese descent gather together to make malasadas.
The oldest woman fries the dough and the children dust the warm malasadas with sugar, and in the sweet aroma of the kitchen, a bond that transcends generations is quietly passed down from generation to generation.

Malasadas are more than just a sweet treat. It is a taste of the heart that brings people together.
We wish to bring such a “story of malasada” to Japan, and we continue to make each one with all our heart today.

Our Malasada

                            【Message to Customers】

Thank you for your continued patronage.

Our malasada donuts are different from other donuts.
Their “fluffy” and “sticky” texture spreads with every bite and is sure to win your heart.
Once you try one, you will be hooked. We have been researching day in and day out to bring out the best in our malasadas.

And our malasada has another feature.
Even after a long time, if you warm them in the microwave, you can enjoy the texture as if they were freshly baked.
After two days, they still taste as good as if they were fried just yesterday. This is because we have created a delicious taste that everyone can agree on through repeated trial and error, and by devising fermentation and frying methods.

After two years of development, this malasada donut is finally ready.
We rigorously check the frying and fermentation conditions on site, never overlooking even the smallest imperfection.
We want to deliver only the best to our customers. With this single-minded focus, we put our heart and soul into each and every one of our creations.

Our greatest pleasure is to make everyone happy.

We will continue to deliver the same quality and taste, so please look forward to it.

With all our hearts, please visit
and enjoy our malasada doughnuts.
